Motorola Moto X Overview
This is the NEW Moto X, the 2nd Generation, or 2014 model. If you are looking for the original version, this is no longer available, but read on to find out more about the new Moto X
Motorola has come a long way since Google took the helm and the results have been very impressive. With their budget Moto G, and the Moto X, Motorola has a device to suit all pockets and tastes.
At first glance the Moto X looks similar to the 2013 version but that is where all comparisons stop. Sitting on top of a brushed aluminium frame the 5.2 inch 1080p full HD AMOLED screen boasts a 423ppi density, giving you a super bright and clear view of pictures, video, and other media. The bigger screen does make the device that little bit longer and wider but you'll also be getting a thinner Moto X at 9.7mm.
Powering the next generation of Moto X is a 2.5GHz quad core processor with 2GB of RAM. This gives plenty of power for those gamers and multitaskers out there. To keep you going the 2,300 mAh battery, with Turbo Charging, that allows an estimated 8 hours charge in just 15 minutes, will keep you on the go for work, and the journey home, as you unwind with your favourite music. With 16GB of storage there is plenty of space for apps and media to set up home on your Moto X.
Not a day goes by when you won't see someone stopping to snap a picture with their smartphone, the Motorola Moto X+1 has a 13 megapixel camera to the back with a ring flash made up of two LEDs. At the front, Hangouts will be taken care of with a 2MP camera. As we move in to a new era of TV transmission Motorola has also added 4K Ultra HD Video capture.
As with the previous Moto X, the shake to wake feature lives on. Give the Moto X a quick shake and the camera app opens, giving you more time snapping away and less time tapping the screen. With the new selfie craze simply saying “Take a selfie” opens the front camera.
In an age where we always want to be connected Motorola has included LTE, or 4G. As this becomes adopted across the whole of the UK, by carriers, this will allow you to stream in content faster and, with WiFi, you'll always have a backup when you hit the Tube. NFC and Bluetooth also open up more avenues to help you share and connect with accessories and other devices.
Music lovers will now find two stereo speakers to the front of the Moto X , this will project your music to the front, as opposed to your favourite music running away from you at the back.
Your voice takes centre stage with the Moto X, it is, after all, a phone, but with the always listening feature you can interact with your phone, thanks to Moto Voice. As most users of Android devices will already know, saying "OK Google" lets you search, dictate messages and call home, hands free, but with the Motorola X+1 you can customise the activation trigger to make it your own. From opening an app to calling home, being hands free keeps you legal and hands free.
Moto Assist puts the smart in smartphone with the Motorola Moto X with the ability to turn on voice recognition when you are say, driving, without the need for you to do anything, all it simply needs is GPS movement and from there you can have your texts read out and even reply. Even at home the Moto X is smart, reading out text messages and announcing who is calling, your very own PA.
As with all Moto devices, you are certainly getting more bang for your buck and that rings true with the Moto X.
